By the Bay

Yesterday I had a fabulous project installation.  It was quite a busy day traveling to San Francisco and coordinating the arrival and work of the electricians, drapery installers and furniture deliverers.

My team hardly took a break to snack but we got it all done by the afternoon, in time for the homeowner's return for "the big reveal".  It was quite a success!  I forget sometimes that my clients have a harder time visualizing the end product so it makes it that much sweeter when they see it all come together.

There are still a few art pieces to be hung and details to add before I take final photos but here is a nice photo of the colorful palette and fabrics I brought into their room with a view:

The List Goes On

This year I have been taking notes on all the different conferences and trade shows that my designer tweeps (those I follow on twitter) mention and are attending or hoping to attend.  I'm not sure which of these I will be going to but will probably be at the Las Vegas Summer Market.  Take a look and see if any of these look familiar:

Maison et Objets (Paris)
Dwell on Design (LA)
Las Vegas Winter/Summer Market
San Francisco Summer/Winter Market
Alt Summit (SLC)
Blog Tour (NYC, London, Madrid, Paris)
Design Bloggers Conference (LA)
Interior Design Show (Toronto)
International Contemporary Furniture Fair (NYC)
Kitchen and Bath Industry Show (Chicago)
International Window Coverings Expo (Chicago)
NeoCon (Chicago)
High Point Market
Light Fair International (Las Vegas)
Hospitality Design Expo (Las Vegas)
Pacific Coast Builders Conference (San Francisco)
Surfaces (Las Vegas)
Architectural Digest Home Design Show (NYC)
Blogfest (NYC)
BlogHer (NYC)

I'm sure there are more!  Have you attended or are you planning on attending any of these shows?  I would love to hear your experiences and recommendations!

Color

I have been thinking about color a lot this week.  It all started on Tuesday during the IntDesignerChat, a twitter chat group that chats about different Interior Design topics every week.  Our topic this week was Color Inspiration Spring 2012 and designers were chatting a mile a minute, as usual.  Spring of course offers its own array of colors in nature every year, but we chatted on some of the trends that have been surfacing in interiors.

We all touched a bit on the color of the year, Tangerine Tango.  Some love it, some really don't.  The general consensus was that it makes a great accent.  One of the most popular mentions was the color grey.  Grey has become the favorite neutral color in the past few years, especially in more metropolitan areas.  Grey has so many subtleties and makes an excellent background for most bold colors, like Tangerine Tango.

This color report from Pantone also shows other colors that work with Tangerine Tango and we will see a lot of in fabrics and furnishings this season.
For more about what designers all over the world had do say on the topic of color, you can read the transcript of the chat here.
