Merry Christmas!

I hope you all have a wonderful Christmas!

This year, I was asked by my mother to embellish her chandeliers in her dining room and nook.

We used rich brown and golds in the dining room to accent the dark green walls. In the nook, red and golds accented with hearts in the Swedish tradition and glittery red apples bring life to the bustling nook. The kitchen/nook is always the hub of activity during the holidays.

My apologies for the quality of pictures. I am literally going out tomorrow to buy a new camera.

Merry Christmas!

Light the Way

I love unique light fixtures. I was recently browsing Ligne Roset site and saw this fun wall sconce. What better way to mix contemporary with traditional styles? This light casts a silhouette of a chandelier onto the wall behind it. What fun to have in a dining room, entry or powder room!

Here are some other interesting lights. One reminds me of a jellyfish. The other is just plain fun!

House, M.D.

One problen with being an interior designer is to be aware of and critique design wherever you go and whatever you do.

A secondary amusement of mine while watching a show or movie, is to observe the set design. I usually don't realize I'm doing it until I come across something that starts to distract me and I miss parts of critical dialog.

One of my favorite shows, House, M.D., take place in the fictional Princeton-Plainsboro Teaching Hospital. I would like to nod to the set designer Danielle Berman, SDSA for creating a fabulous looking state of the art hospital. The warm wood paneling, expansive glass windows, interior glass walls and sophisticated colors makes me wish I could walk the halls and beautiful lobby. No cramped hallways of VCT, teal rubber cove base and peach vinyl wallcovering. A hospital of that caliber would require many benefactors to give the designers such a luxurious budget to work with. At any rate, I will continue to enjoy it in each episode. For more images, see the official website for the show.

Sacramento Hot Spot

If you live in the Sacramento area, you have to check out the new restaurant and nightclub Tre, brought to you by the Haines Brothers who gave us 33rd Street Bistro and Riverside Clubhouse, among others. I was privileged to get in on this by working with Bruce Benning of Benning Design. we had a great time bringing this project to life. A mix of Havana and the good life, the varied menu, sophisticated decor and expansive dance floor draws a wonderful mix of people. Don't miss the special VIP lounges, which can be rented for private parties. Great place to have that office party! With a raw seafood bar, cigar bar, malt bar, wine bar and tequila bar, there is a little something for every type of connoisseur. I recommend checking out their website where these photos are found:
