2013 and The Orchid

It's the last day of the year, a perfect time of reflection.  As I look back on all the few posts I have done this year, it is obvious that something, or someone has rearranged my priorities!  And I love it.  My little girl has brought such joy to my life and I wouldn't trade it for the world.  It has been quite a challenge to balance my business and being a new mom but we are adjusting well and both baby and my career are thriving.  I only lack time to document it all!

I will soon be revealing my inspiration board for 2014.  I'm excited that Radiant Orchid is the color of the year from Pantone as I feel I have already been incorporating it where I can.
It is close to the color of my daughter's nursery and would love to use it more. (seen here behind Elsie)

I have recently completed and am awaiting photos to come back of RWD's latest kitchen and bath remodel while we work away at two new kitchens, so I know I will have many fun projects to share with you soon!

Wishing you much joy and happiness for 2014!

2012 Inspiration

I've been inspired!  Here is my official inspiration board for the year 2012 - a year that is showing much promise for my business!
I love having these boards posted on the wall near my computer.  I know that throughout the year it does, and has, lend inspiration for my career, my passion for interiors and the things I have done or want to do in my designs.

The medium I prefer for these boards is magazine photos pasted into a collage. I notice the colors are similar to last years but more bright orange, pinks, and turquoise with touches of gold. Very vibrant and fresh with hints of sophistication and bling.  I see cosmopolitan and global emerging as well.  It will be an interesting year!

I want to see your inspirations for 2012!  Please post a reply with a link to wherever you have posted your board online, or you can upload it to my facebook page.

Starting Fresh

I always enjoy beginning of January.  It's a new year so many people are freshly motivated to achieve new goals.  The air is usually fresh and crisp and on a sunny day, it is nearly blinding since there are no leaves on the trees to filter the sun.  I'm very much looking forward to this year.  My business is growing, I'll be involved in many activities for my local chapter of ASID and, of course, will be blogging about all of these adventures.

Here is one of my projects that is starting the new year looking fresh and crisp as the weather.  You may remember my Victorian project where I selected the exterior paints.  I stopped by to take some quick photos today of how it turned out:

It's not far off from the overlay in my computer program;
And it's a big improvement over the original paint:

I hope you are having a fresh start to the new year!  Happy New Year!

2011 Inspiration

Here is what is inspiring me for the upcoming year:

I noticed that I have a little more drama going on from my last inspiration board.  Grays and peacock colors have been replaced for deep chocolates and glossy blacks with bright splashes of pinks and purples A combination of modern and old world mixed with a bit of glitz.  And as far as the "peace love and chocolate", how can one imagine a future without some yummy chocolate in it?  Well, I guess it could apply to chocolate colors as well.

So now it's your turn to show your inspiration for the next year.  It may turn out to be inspiring to others as well as yourself.  Please provide a link to your posting of your inspiration board below.  If you don't have a blog where you posted it on, I think it will work for linking to a image on facebook or any site you can post an image.  I can't wait to see them!

Inspiration To Come

This last week of the year is always one full of reflection and hope for the new year.  I thought it was about time for a new inspiration board.  You may remember the one I posted earlier this year:
As I'm working on my inspiration board to show you later this week, I would love to see some of your inspiration boards or any inspirations for 2011.  When I post my board this week I will provide a linky link to let you link to your post of your own inspiration.  Be thinking about it!

Welcome 2009!

Best Wishes for the upcoming year!

I brought in the New Year with my husband and friends at a fabulous restaurant in Roseville, CA called Crush 29. It's a Napa style restaurant with natural stone and wood complimenting its fresh and delicious Californian menu. For New Years Eve, they had a fixed menu with wine pairings for each course that really brought out the delicacies of each flavor.

It was a great place to relax and enjoy the sophisticated atmosphere for a few hours to bring in the new year.

May 2009 be prosperous for you!
